Mothership Adventures is a family-run business operating from our home on British Columbia's spectacular west coast. The six of us (crew of 4 per tour) thrive on providing first class service and are thrilled to show travelers the beauty and uniqueness of this special place where we have lived all our lives.
"For Captain Campbell and Crew, Thank-you for your competence, caring,
professionalism and camaraderie. The food was superior to what we had on the QE
II and the QMII (no kidding!). We appreciate the comfort, cleanliness and
ambience of the Columbia III. We bonded with the crew and passengers. The
kayaking was more than we hoped for - Fantastic! In fact, we loved the trip so
much we have already signed up for August 2009."
John and Jeanne. Florida, 2007
Our captain, Ross Campbell, is Ministry of Transport certified with thirty-five
years of boating experience on this coast. With a wealth of local knowledge, a
deep commitment to safety and a love of meeting people, he is in his element as
skipper of the Columbia III.
"Thank-you for the care and attention that have made the Columbia III such a
beautiful 'home away from home'. We were so comfortable and hope it won’t be too
long before we travel with you again."
Kathie and Bill, Zeballos B.C. 2007
Our two certified guides (Sea kayak, Level III certification from the Sea Kayak
Guides Alliance of British Columbia, and Assistant Commercial Bear Viewing
Guides), Miray Campbell and Luke Hyatt, are experienced paddlers and leaders,
and have guided commercially for many years. Both Miray and Luke keep a current
Wilderness First Aid ticket and Luke has his Captain's papers for the Columbia
III as well. Born and raised on the B.C. coast they are passionate about natural
history, marine biology and kayaking on the ocean. They delight in sharing their
knowledge in a pleasant, relaxed, and informative manner, but most of all, they
know how to have fun.
And our cook, Fern Kornelsen, always most comfortable in the quiet natural
places of the world, is everybody's best friend as the never-ending stream of
culinary delights flow from the galley.
To round out our family crew: Tavish and Farlyn are both experienced mariners in their own right with years of sea time between them on tall-ships and off-shore commercial fishboats. They both have First Mates papers for the Columbia III, Wilderness First Aid Tickets and Assistant Guide qualifications. They are always an asset on board in whatever position they fill.

Everyone in our family have M.O.T. certified training in marine emergency duties ( MED A2) , radio operators licences (ROC) and marine First Aid.

"The food and service would rival any I have ever experienced; the
professionalism, knowledge, and friendliness of the family crew were beyond
compare."
Bill Vanderford - Georgia, USA (National Hall of Fame Legendary Guide)
Mothership Adventures does its very best to be socially and environmentally responsible. There are many challenges facing the environment and its wildlife on the British Columbia coast and we support the non-profit organizations (some of which are listed below) working for the preservation and protection of this rich area. A priority for us, whilst touring, is to minimize our impact on the wilderness and wildlife we visit. We are proud to have one of the most fuel efficient boats on the coast, and out of respect for our guests and the peaceful environment the generator is never run during the night. We support small owner operated businesses whenever possible, and we have endeavored to establish good working relations with the First Nations people in our tour areas. Additionally, a large portion of the food we serve (and always the coffee!) is organically grown, and freshly homemade.
"We would like to say that the best of the best on this vacation was in
meeting and getting to know each of the Campbell family members. It was truly a
success because of each and every one of their efforts and enthusiasm. Thank you
from the bottom of our hearts."
