COLUMBIA III - The Mothership

Columbia underway

1st Place Winner at the 2003 Northwest Classic Boat Show, Victoria, BC
WELCOME ABOARD the award winning Mothership "Columbia III"

To see more of the Columbia III, we offer an interactive picture tour, or a gallery of photographs.

Columbia salon and stove The 68' Columbia III outshines them all! Stately. Graceful. Quiet. Steadfast. Beautiful. After fifty years of being an integral participant in Canada coastal history (see Columbia III history), her classic lines are still recognized and admired at every British Columbia port. She was completely refurbished in the early 1990's with great attention to detail and passenger enjoyment. From her wheelhouse with the latest navigational electronics to the large, covered aft-deck, she is immaculate and the woodworking throughout is of the finest quality. The gleaming exterior, polished brass, spacious dining room rich in varnished mahogany and modern galley invite you aboard while six lovely staterooms, three heads (toilets), and two showers with plenty of hot water ensure your comfort. There is an extensive onboard library which focuses on wildlife, natural history, local interests and always a dictionary, so if we don't know it we can look it up!

" It was a pleasure to travel on the "COLUMBIA III", clearly one of the maritime treasures of this coast, run with obvious great affection by the crew and Skipper."
- John, Victoria British Columbia 2015

"The opportunity to explore this fantastic part of B.C. on such a lovely old ship with her fabulous crew has been a real treat."
- Chris and Marilyn, New Zealand

picture of dining table The Columbia III is heated by a diesel furnace with radiators located throughout the boat, and by a charming diesel fireplace in the saloon. If the weather turns foul, the Mothership is THE perfect place to curl up with a favorite book or simply to watch the velvety, green coastline slide by the large, salon windows. When the ship is underway, the wheelhouse becomes everyone's favourite place to be. With its expansive view, large chart table, fascinating computer generated moving chart display and plush leather seat for three (and standing room for everyone), the Skipper is rarely alone! Even the engineroom is a must-see part of every tour (well, it is for the guys!) and the Skipper is happy to show off the spotless machinery. Featured in such books as Classic Wooden Yachts, she embodies a rare sense of quality and integrity not found in many other vessels. The Columbia III exudes a rich, warm sense of place that is the perfect compliment to the coastal areas we visit. Equally important, our vessel and crew are fully approved and certified annually by Transport Canada and the safety equipment is maintained to the highest standards.

" The Columbia III is the handsomest boat I have ever had the opportunity to board. All of your love and those who've come before you shines through every surface; elegant, timeless and perfectly cozy. But what really makes it special is the lovely crew and owners. I felt part of your special family from the first day. I so appreciate all your gestures from the biggest to the smallest. The scenery and nature were absolutely spectacular and we were blessed to see everything I'd dreamt about. But seriously, if it had been rainy and we hadn't seen a thing, I would have been happy just to hang with you in your oasis!"
- Love Martha, New York USA 2015

"Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing with us your love of these enchanted islands, straits and bays. We appreciate all you did for everyone - gourmet food cooked in a galley kitchen, expert and patient kayak guiding, detailed explanation of sea and marine life, an impeccably maintained ship! All provided with grace, patience and willing smiles. We appreciate all the hard work you put into making this a magical adventure."
- Lisa & Larry, California 2010
